Bio

I began my book writing career at the tender age of eight, when I was struck ill by the notorious fiction virus. STRANDED, written in the third grade, won me a seat with a real author for a book reading in the media room. I was certain it was my original idea, a family stranded on a desert island, that got me that coveted spot on the nubby orange carpet. I knew for sure it wasn't my penmanship or chipper attitude. Even at the age of eight, I had a dark streak--many of my STRANDED characters met gruesome and untimely deaths.

In high school I moved to the Northwest and on to writing angsty, emotionally dripping poetry. I never read it to anyone, but kept a secret journal under my bed with the following words written on it: IF YOU ARE READING THIS YOU SHOULD NOT BE. EXCEPT FOR PAGE 75 WHICH MOM CAN READ.

I moved along to college (as many of us geeky, book laden girls do) and continued to write angsty, emotionally laden poems, but this time I threw in some politics, a little dose of my new found feminism, and some better metaphors. Despite my lofty goals, most of the good stuff ended up being about love and heartbreak.

Surprisingly, I spend most of my time reading, writing, editing, and snarking, but as a rare treat I also eat, cook, read about cooking, listen to the rain and eavesdrop on the local teens at my favorite coffee shop.
